Bible story - Daniel and the Lion's Den - theme - Dinosaurs
Today is day 4 of Spirit Week. It is Wacky/Tacky Day. I, of course, didn't participate today. I couldn't think of anything to wear that wouldn't be too hot. Some of the kids were dressed Wacky/Tacky today and I should have gotten ideas from them. Unfortunately, we didn't get to go outside before the heat and humidity took over. The grass was being cut and I didn't want the kids out while this was being done.
We played in the classroom with the other class. There weren't many kids in that room so they came over to play and make the craft with us. Some of the kids were listening to bible songs and dancing while others played with blocks or on the climber. Our craft was a dinosaur and the kids colored the dinosaur with watered down paint and after it dried, they used bingo daubers to make spots. We put spikes, a tail and an eye on them after that. The legs are clothespins. We ate our snack and then listened to the bible story and some music. The kids came over a few at a time to finish the dinosaur after the paint had dried. We were able to play in the gym this morning. It was hot just walking up the steps to the big school. In the gym, the kids ran and played with the hoops, balls and other friends. Cooler than trying to go outside in the heat.
Best buddies.

Painting the dinosaurs purple. A little on the messy side but fun to do. Making the paint watered down helped the dinosaur to dry a little faster. Wanted to make sure it would be dry enough to finish before rest time.

Walking down the hall to go to the gym. I am seeing this more and more each day where the kids are making new friends and asking if the other one is coming in that day. The older ones gravitate toward the littler ones and help them go up the steps to the big school and to wherever we are headed at that particular time.

On our way back from the gym, the kids like to hold another friend's hand or the teacher's hand. We usually play a game of seeing how quiet we can be going down the hall and surprise the Camp Directors if they are at the tables working.

It was quite interesting to see how each one used the dauber. Some chose to go up and down with the dauber and others used it like a crayon. Some dinosaurs have several big spots while others have various ones.

Playing in the gym is always more fun. There is so much more room to run and shout. Playing with friends and learning to share the different hoops and balls. The kids love for the teachers to roll the hoops and they will chase after the hoop. Sometimes they do try to do it themselves and a few have figured out how to make it roll, even if only a few feet. Sharing is getting a little easier for them as well. There aren't enough of the little hoops so they do share them with each other.
